Support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are offered by Yunggorendi Student Engagement.
Yunggorendi is a name gifted to us by Kaurna Elders, meaning to ‘Impart Knowledge, To Communicate, and To Inform’.
The Tjilbruke Student Lounge is located on level 3 of the Yunggorendi Mande building at Bedford Park campus, and study rooms are located on level 1.
You can access the lounge and study rooms in line with current social distancing requirements:
The Tjilbruke Student Lounge has been refurbished to include study spaces, computer suite, kitchen with food pantry and relaxation area. Yunggorendi support staff are also located on level 3 so they are readily available to provide support and assistance.
To maintain social distancing requirements, the study rooms on level 1 require booking between 9am and 5pm Monday through to Friday and are available to book for two hours per person per day during these times. The number of people in each room at any one time is now restricted as per the signs on each room door. To book a study room contact reception or your Indigenous Student Support Officer on 8201 3033.
Swipe card access is required to the Tjilbruke Student Lounge and the study rooms, which you can organise through reception on level 2 or on 8201 3033.
Indigenous students are provided with automatic access to the Yunggorendi student hub portal, through FLO. The site is regularly updated with events, news and information relevant to your study and engagement at Flinders. We encourage you to access the site regularly to stay up-to-date.
Need some one-on-one support? The Indigenous student support officers are available to work directly with you to provide individual support throughout your degree.
Support ranges from pre-enrolment advice, academic advocacy, pastoral support, housing and finance. Each support officer works directly with students from specific Colleges and disciplines so we encourage you to get to know your support person as they can be a valuable resource.
Our staff profiles are available on the Yunggorendi Student Hub.
Want to improve any of your academic study skills, like time management or how to be an effective and efficient learner and writer? Then join this program.
The Yunggorendi Tutorial Program (YTP) aims to improve academic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
YTP provides supplementary tutoring for students enrolled in degree programs, including the Foundation Studies course, at Flinders University. There are no costs involved and it really helps to improve your understanding of the topic curriculum. Make time in your day to sign up and join this program.
The tutoring sessions can be just yourself and a tutor or you could form a study group.
