The College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) inspires ground-breaking ways of viewing and interpreting the world in order to understand it and shape it for the better. We do this by offering thoughtful, diverse and challenging opportunities to explore human activities analytically, critically, imaginatively and creatively.
As a member of the college, you will be fully supported to complete your qualification while becoming an informed and well-rounded global citizen. Through engagement with our academic staff, industry placement opportunities, and professional mentoring you will develop your skillset to prepare you to transition adaptively to your future professional endeavours.

We offer access to a wide range of support, advice and guidance online, over the phone and in person.
The lounge is a space for all of our postgraduate students to relax, work, have meetings, and generally feel at home in the college. It links off of a kitchen, and is a great place for bumping into fellow students and staff. Postgraduate students studying in the College of HASS can access the lounge at Humanities Building (Room 234).
If you are a postgraduate coursework, honours or higher degree by research student The Cove is a space designed especially for you. It’s the perfect place for you to study, relax and meet other students. The Cove features:

The Cove is open between 8am and 6pm every day including weekends. Outside these hours it is also available for use with access by swipe card only, which can be organised via your student ID card. Please contact cbgl.operations@flinders.edu.au and provide your name, student number, and security identification number located in the bottom right-hand corner of your ID card. This number will start with '26' or '27'.
Student representatives (reps) work with staff and leadership in the college to help improve the teaching and learning experience in your course.

Joining a Flinders University Student Association (FUSA) club is a great way to involve yourself in the University community and meet like-minded individuals who share the same hobby or passion. Not only does it provide a great break from study, joining a club expands your opportunities outside of the classroom and allows you to network with others in the same field of study. The Interim Vice-President and Executive Dean (VPED) for the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences is Professor Peter Monteath.
The VPED is key to supporting a positive academic experience for all students. The VPED will sit on committees and groups on matters relating to learning and teaching, academic facilities and academic policy and processes.
The Dean (Education) for the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences is Associate Professor Eric Bouvet.
The Dean (Education) develops college strategic initiatives and participates in planning and policy setting with a particular focus on learning and teaching.
Welcome to the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences! After an extraordinary year in 2020, I am looking forward to seeing many of you around campus this semester and I hope you can take advantage of the great services our campuses have to offer.
